REACH Learning Services

REACH believes every child is unique
and deserves individualized care.

We make it our mission to help children maximize their gifts so they can become the best versions of themselves.
The children that we work with have often been identified with a learning and/or behavioral need.

Our team has specific clinical and academic expertise that allows us to support a wide variety
of children and youth. The learner profiles we currently serve include students who experience:

1

A specific learning disability in reading, writing, or math and an underlying social-emotional need such as low confidence, self-esteem, anxiety, perfectionism, etc.

4

A social-emotional or mental health need that impacts academic performance.

2

ADHD and/or an executive functioning disability that is compounded by either a specific learning disability or a social-emotional need.

5

Learning differences that may not meet criteria for school-based support in some settings, but which would benefit from academic and social emotional support.

3

Gifted learners who may also have a disability such as a specific learning disability, high-functioning Autism, or social-emotional and mental health needs.

"With REACH, my son is growing and reading in ways I had been hoping for so long. He loves playtime with his clinician. Sometimes they even have dinner dates while they work. It's the cutest thing and he loves having someone who gets him."

The REACH Learning Approch

While the student is at the center of our intervention process, we extend our work to families and schools to foster support and understanding from all angles.

Our 3-Pronged Model

  1. Our approach to direct academic and
    social-emotional intervention

REACH Learning’s educational coaches have advanced training in proven academic approaches designed to help students master reading, writing, and mathematics including the Orton-Gillingham Approach, Step Up to Writing, Lindamood Bell strategies, and Cognitively Guided Math Instruction.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL), which includes emotional, relational, and behavioral skills, is crucial to success in school and in life. REACH Learning incorporates a set of core SEL competencies established by the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) into each student’s intervention process. Educational coaches work with students to foster self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making. In this way, our coaches address both the academic and social-emotional needs of students in every session.

2. Our approach to coaching
and supporting families

Parents and family members are an integral part of the REACH Learning approach. They play an active role during the initial intake and interview process, are involved in establishing intervention goals, and provide key support through the student’s journey. REACH educational coaches include the parents when assigning homework and work with the family to establish any work between sessions, provide academic and social emotional guidance, and help the family with other school or social emotional needs that come up.

3. Our approach to
supporting teachers:

REACH educational coaches view themselves as an extension of a student’s classroom teacher. They focus on providing additional support, tools, and training to reinforce what is being taught in the classroom. Educational coaches will often consult with a student’s teacher to pre-teach or re-teach (or both) classroom lessons in order to ensure the student masters the subject matter before moving on. In addition, REACH’s directors are available to assist a student’s teacher in developing an Individual Education Program (IEP), customize incentives, and determine the best academic and SEL approaches for the student.
